Technological advancement has turned out to be beneficial for students, as it can considerably improve the learning process. In daily student life, technology is presented in the form of software and assistive technology products. However, it is crucial to define the exact role of education for students.

The main merits of applying technology in college:

1.Computer and internet technology has turned out to be helpful for students when reading, writing, and calculating. Hence, to No Child Left Behind Act adapted in 2001, instructors should provide students with all necessary facilities required for a diligent study.

2.Technologies are also rather helpful for the teaching stuff, as they provide excellent opportunities to teach and acquire skills for teaching and training abilities.

3.Technologies also manage to meet special needs of students with disabilities thus considerably contributing to learning process. Such technologies make education possible for those who cannot do this on a daily basis.

4.Computer technologies, such as laptops, cell phones, and other mobile technologies have fostered the knowledge acquisition. It also provides students with skills needed for further employment.

What technologies are useful for students?

1.Laptop: this is the first things that a student needs. It helps in writing and formatting essays, reading electronic materials, listening video files, if necessary.

2.Cell phone: this device helps students to be in close touch with other students and professor as well. Hence, it is possible to clarify the scope of assignment or the content of lecture that you missed when you were ill, etc.

3.Xerox: this device is useful, especially if you need the material from the book, which is available at the library. In case you do not have much time for rewriting the ideas from the source, you can copy it and read at home.

4.Scanner: this is also helpful when you need to load the data on your PC.

5.Internet allows you to consult your professor concerning additional materials for the exam or term paper.

Hiring an outside independent contractor to manage some aspect of a company’s computer and data systems is called IT “outsourcing.” Boston companies do this in order to help externalize the cost of doing business while internalizing and maximizing profits for shareholders and investors. While outsourcing functions of government such as the maintenance of infrastructure, safety and regulation enforcement and even the military has proven to be an unmitigated disaster for the public, large private companies and their clients and cusomers can actually experience substantial benefits by outsourcing and information technology benefits.

Because of governmental misuse of outsourcing over the past seven years, the term has understandably taken on some strongly negative connotations with the general public, leading to some misconceptions about outsourcing and information technology benefits. The fact is that outsourcing information technology can be an excellent way to streamline your company’s operations and cut business costs. In many cases, when it comes to the technological infrastructure of a business, the most effective way to make efficient use of labor and capital as well as the technology itself is by IT outsourcing.

Boston – based companies often have issues with supervision and control that causes management to be hesitant when it comes to outsourcing information technology. In fact, such often time-consuming management chores can seriously eat into the bottom line; one of the great outsourcing and information technology benefits is that the company will no longer have to spend time and resources in this area any longer; the contractor takes care of all supervision, evaluations and other issues that management generally prefers to have under its control. This is true even when the contractor may have an IT engineer on your company’s property to deal with any potential problems with computers, e-mail systems, Internet connections, data storage, severs and any other issues that may come up.

Another aspect of outsourcing boston information technology to keep in mind is the fact that as contractors, these people do not require that you provide pension contributions, paid vacation and health and dental benefits – meaning greater returns for investors and more that can be paid to your valuable top-level people.

Outsourcing and information technology benefits the shareholders and investors, management and the company as a whole. When you have fewer employees to manage and keep track of, you can turn your attention to the more immediate issues that more directly affect the day-to-day operations of your company. Ease of operation, cutting costs, and increasing profitability are the best reasons for outsourcing boston’s corporate IT systems today.

Smartgrid2: We were right about cable modems and BPL is next

Former European cable execs see BPL parallels

Firm poised to ease BPL’s entry into Europe

Reproduced from the Jan 30 issue of BPL Today with the permission of the publisher, GHI LLC (202-298-8201, www.bpltoday.com).

Two former vice presidents of reportedly Europe ’s largest triple play firm started a BPL integrator/operator called Smartgrid2.

Tom Walsh and Patricia McGrath were executives at UPC Broadband — now owned by Liberty Global. The Netherlands-based firm grew from a 200-user cable modem trial network in Amsterdam in the mid 90s to a customer base of over 1.5 million cable broadband subscribers in 14 countries in 2002. Walsh was vice president of engineering and then operations and McGrath was vice president of network planning and implementation.

The two left UPC and in 2005 they started Smartgrid2 in Ireland . They looked at various alternative technologies and soon found BPL.Smartgrid2 is convinced BPL is the technology it had been looking for and set its sights on deploying BPL for utility services and retail triple play throughout Europe .

Walsh and McGrath spoke to us Thursday from their headquarters in County Kerry in Southwest Ireland .Walsh is CTO and McGrath is director.“ Europe will offer incredible opportunity for ‘smart grid’ technology players for the next 10 years,” said Walsh. He believes the key for BPL technology firms to succeed in Europe will be to maintain a presence without draining resources and funds.

Smartgrid2 ( www.smartgrid2.com ) is set up to help. The firm’s been trying to land BPL projects with utilities but like everywhere, European utilities have resisted.

EU’s pushing BPL

“Utilities have been slow to come to the table so far — but here in Europe the EU is actively pushing the technology,” said Walsh. Why is the government of Europe pushing BPL?

A BPL initiative is underway to “overcome the energy challenges presented by a rapidly expanding [EU] membership where demand is outstripping supply,” Walsh reported. He and McGrath are involved in that government effort and they’re confident “it will happen,” she added. The firm wants to introduce to Europe some of the main players in the BPL world “that have existing and proven technologies and proven business cases so that we can jump start some technology trials.

“We believe that some of the strongest players have a great opportunity to be in at the beginning” — with a real possibility to turn those trials into commercial deployments.

Smartgrid2 hopes to avoid “open-ended science experiments — that I think have been some people’s experience in the past,” said McGrath. Some of the utilities in the EU are trying to “reinvent the wheel,” she added — and Smartgrid2 wants to show them wheels are “already out there,” she added.

The challenge for Smartgrid2 is to make deals with international BPL technology firms including US firms and represent them in Europe .

The name says it all

Smartgrid2 learned early that utilities aren’t usually interested in hype about the broadband business. True to its name, the firm is focused on utility applications and sees that market offering huge potential. Commercial broadband is a side benefit that can be delivered by firms that lease bandwidth from the utility, he noted.

But the need for the 21st century smart grid is urgent. The EU grew from 15 to 27 countries in the last 3 years, Walsh reminded. Many have rapidly growing economies that are putting incredible demand on power grids.

These states have limited raw resources for energy production and a lack of organization in the power interconnection between countries. The EU doesn’t have a system to manage the grid or know “who’s producing power” and who’s using it.

“Smart grid efficiency and control are finally being seen as the way to integrate and manage the various networks” — and cut reliance on generators outside the Union , said Walsh.

Meanwhile less developed nations in the EU are trying to build their economies and getting access to broadband is a key ingredient. “Pilot projects are being planned to take the best existing solutions and test them for commercial roll-outs throughout Europe .”

Walsh expects BPL’s role to expand as green power generation projects such as home-based generation, solar panels, wind farms, tidal power and more start populating the grid. Interconnection with those projects will make managing the reliability of the grid ever more complicated — and some look to BPL as an obvious answer to managing that complexity.

They saw cable get smart

BPL reminds Walsh of the early days of cable. People in 1997 told him cable modem networks “couldn’t happen, it wouldn’t work — we were dreaming.” BPL is in roughly the same position as cable was then — with a lack of standards, some engineering challenges in creating networks plus it’s got its nay sayers.

The broadband boom in Europe was similar to “the wave that’s building for smart grids. ”Cable traditionally was a one-way, wire-based distribution network. Sounds familiar.

Cable modem technology introduced tremendous advantages by adding IP to those networks.

Suddenly the operator could see the condition of every piece of gear on the network all the way to the customer’s modem.

That gave Walsh a brand new kind of power in making financial decisions. He could make choices on where to spend money on the network — based not on which technology officer in field wrote the most compelling request, “but on actual live statistics,” he stressed.

His operational crews — that had only ever been reactive — could now act proactively based on real-time data and “before stuff breaks.” Walsh would set targets and key performance indicators for his managers and then “see how they were doing — not based on a score card but actual real statistics, real facts.”

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: All of a sudden you had huge efficiencies coming into the operation which means you gave better end-service to the customer. At the same time you were able to reduce costs of providing the service. This was all happening in the cable sector probably in the years of 2002, 2003. Take that benefit and combine it with BPL and you are making that business case look much rosier.

Tom Walsh, CTO, Smartgrid2

These folks have scaled

Another similarity with cable is the problem utilities face in scaling data networks to cover entire utility footprints. Those are the same problems Walsh tackled with cable-based broadband, he reminded.

It takes “business nerve” to wait for the opportunities to ripen — and then capital to take advantage of the moment when it’s right.

Superior technology will win out, he added. “For us, ‘smart grids’ is nothing new.

“We deployed similar technology on communications networks and quickly realized the operational benefits when scaling is handled correctly.”

While Smartgrid2 works on landing utility contracts, the firm has started deploying MDU networks in the hospitality industry in Ireland .That work helps the firm add hands on experience with BPL plus generate revenue. ( www.mains4.com )

An invitation to Europe

Grids around Europe offer various challenges and “customizing hardware and software for individual markets is crucial,” said Walsh. “A partnership with the right European player can ease that pain.

“We are actively seeking to represent manufacturers over here.” Smartgrid2 partnered with a firm that’s got 180 trained, certified line crew workers “who excel on the physical installation of utility gear.

“Any executive struggling with how to hit Europe should get in touch. “If they are serious and can deliver, we’ll be happy to help them exploit the European opportunities we uncover through our role in the advisory and working groups.”

Smartgrid2 isn’t married to any manufacturer or chipset, Walsh reported, and that lets it “work in an unbiased way to select best-of-breed technologies.

“The smart grids principle is not new. “It’s been [used] in the telecom sector for over four years and has revolutionized both technical and operational management.

“These benefits can now be realized by power utilities, too”

In this era of technology, mobile phones are one of the most fascinating technology that we use the most. Mobile phones have come a long way from just a medium of communication to one of our best mates. Today, it is very difficult to spend even a single day without the mobile. If our phone breaks down, it make us quite nervous.

Nowadays, mobiles come bundled with a lot of features. It’s like many of the gadgets are mixed together and made into a single powerful gadget with the main features of all. Mobile serves as an iPod for listening to music, as a digital camera for taking high resolution images, as a handycam for making videos, as a computer for browsing the Internet and playing games, etc. Though it’s not as good as using the individual gadgets but still the output is quite satisfying. If the advancement in mobile technology continues at this pace, we might observe new inventions in the field of individual gadgets applied to mobiles as well. This means that the mobile will be as advanced as the individual gadgets it is made up of.

We have already seen mobiles with 5 megapixel camera like the Nokia N95. The Sony Walkman series phones give as great output as an iPod. Also, the latest mobile phones can store thousands of songs in all the popular formats, thus getting closer to the iPod. The screen resolution and the number of colors supported is also increasing steadily. Mobile manufacturers are trying hard to reduce the size of mobile phones and to make them as thin as possible, though the Nokia Nseries phones don’t support this fact as they are quite bulky and heavy. Even though, there is still a lot of progress to be done regarding the usage of mobiles for browsing the Internet but still it fulfills the purpose to some extent. You can also watch TV on your mobile but this technology is still developing. Some mobiles also support GPS (Global Positioning System) technology. This technology helps in accessing your position, whether you are on foot or in a vehicle. You can easily get to know where you are located with the help of a map and you can also get to know the way to a particular place with the help of directions that are provided to you.

So, we might see some mind-blowing advancements in the future mobiles!

SUMMARY

The Information Technology Infrastructure Library is a set of concepts and policies for managing information technology (IT) infrastructure, development and operations. ITIL is the most widely accepted approach to IT Service Management in the world. It promotes a quality approach to achieving business effectiveness, economy and efficiency in the use of information systems. The ethos behind the development of ITIL is the recognition that organizations are becoming increasingly dependent on IT in order to satisfy their corporate aims and meet their business needs. ITIL is a cohesive best practice framework, drawn from the public and private sectors internationally. It describes the organisation of IT resources to deliver business value, and documents processes, functions and roles in ITSM. ITIL is to be adopted and built upon by an organisation as per its purposes and needs. ITIL is supported by a comprehensive qualifications scheme, accredited training organisations, and implementation and assessment tools. In today’s competitive market, being ITIL complaint is a definitive edge over the competitors.

The latest generation of the ITIL is titled “ITIL v3“. This version represents an important evolutionary step in ITIL’s life. ITIL has transformed the guidance from providing a great service to being the most innovative and best in class. In general, ITIL v3 makes the link between ITIL’s best practice and business benefits both clearer and stronger. The main development is that ITIL v3 guidance takes a lifecycle approach, as opposed to organising according to IT delivery sectors.

This article focuses on giving readers a brief understanding of the ITIL.

Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is a series of books that are used to aid the implementation of a framework for IT Service Management (ITSM). Being a framework, it is completely customisable for application within any type of business or organisation that has a reliance on IT infrastructure. The ITIL originated as a collection of books each covering a specific practice within ITSM. ITIL books are developed by Office of Government Commerce, U.K. (OGC). It is the world’s de-facto standard best practice framework for ITSM. OGC also has qualification certification program for ITIL followers.

ITIL is cornerstone of good quality ITSM and a necessity for quality assurance. It provides a systematic, process-based approach, supported by procedures for key IT service management processes. ITIL is Technology independent. ITIL gives a detailed description of a number of important IT practices with comprehensive checklists, tasks and procedures that can be tailored to any IT organization.

The ITIL series consists of several books providing guidance on the planning, delivery and management of quality IT services to support business needs comprising issues pertaining to Service Support, Service Delivery, IT Infrastructure Management, Application Management, Business Perspective, Security Management. ITIL has clear definition of various terms used in ITSM in a concise yet comprehensive manner.

UTIILTY OF ITIL

ITIL provides a comprehensive set of guidance to link the technical implementation, operations guidelines and requirements with the strategic management, operations management and financial management of a modern business. Among the benefits associated with adopting the ITIL which have been identified by the users are improved customer satisfaction with IT services, better communications and information flows between IT staff and customers, better management control over ITSM and reduced costs in developing and implementing procedures and practices within an enterprise. ITIL improves the performance of processes which are being followed in an organization leading to high quality output.

It goes into great detail regarding the process, implementation and the content of the key deliverable of the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and Service Level Requirements (SLRs).

ITIL contains tried and tested processes. It has a quick-start approach to help in making the best use of time and resources available and see quick results. It led to improved productivity of the organisation itself and also of delivery of third party services through the specification of ITIL. The well defined ITIL processes also minimizes duplication of efforts, dropped hand-offs and unapproved work. Additionally, individuals gain a better understanding of roles and responsibilities and how they each contribute to the success of IT and the business. It separates administrative tasks and technical tasks to help in assigning the most appropriate resources.

In short, ITIL improves efficiency, effectiveness and economy of the ITSM.

ITIL – ITSM

ITIL describes the management of IT Services in the context of the lifecycle of those services. The focus of ITIL today is integration of IT into the business, assuring the delivery of business value and the treatment of services as business assets. ITIL describes the life of a service from conception to retirement, within a Service Portfolio detailing aspects of planning and development as well as objects, specification, description and requirements of the services in use or being offered for use through means of the processes. Each process has a home in the lifecycle stage book where it is most active. The lifecycle approach gives an improved, holistic structure within which to describe all the functions, processes, roles and responsibilities that constitute ITSM Best Practice.

The two basic requirements of ITSM are:

(a) Service Delivery: ITIL’s Service Delivery component includes tactical processes necessary for planning and delivering quality IT services, which is defined in SLA. Service Delivery best practices address Availability Management, Capacity Management, Service Level Management, Service Continuity Management (contingency planning) and Financial Management for IT Services.

(b) Service Support: ITIL’s Service Support component focuses on the operational processes that enable companies to provide IT Support and maintenance activities on a day-to-day, around-the-clock basis. Service Support disciplines include Change Management, Configuration Management, Problem Management, Incident Management and Release Management (including software and hardware control and distribution). This includes service desk facility as single point of contact and disaster recovery mechanism. The objective is to minimize disruption to the business by proactive identification and analysis of the cause of service incidents and by managing problems to closure.

CMDB

One of the primary elements of ITIL is Configuration Management Database (CMDB). CMDB is a database, which contains all relevant details of each Configuration Item (CI) and details of the important relationships between CI’s. CI is a part of an IT infrastructure or an item associated therewith which is under control of configuration management for ITIL implementation.

The ITIL goal of Configuration Management is to keep records of all IT data, IT processes and IT policies and to provide information to the other processes. Critical steps are the population of the CMDB and building the relationships between all the populated elements. The captured data can be used for decision support, for change impact analysis, release management verification identifying rogue changes and any number of other information processing and analysis purposes. CMDB helps in keeping track of all ITIL processes.

Deming Circle

For quality improvement W. Edwards Deming proposed the Deming Cycle (or Circle). The four key stages are Plan, Do, Check and Act after which a phase of consolidation prevents the ‘Circle’ from ‘rolling downs the hill’ as illustrated:-

ITIL is built around a process-model based view of controlling and managing operations often credited to Mr. Deming. ITIL helps in achieving the Deming Circle. ITIL is a process led approach. Quality management for IT Services is a systematic way of ensuring that all the activities necessary to design, develop and implement IT services which satisfy the requirements of the organization and of Users take place as planned.

Implementing the change

Besides having human resource having knowledge and experience of ITIL, business needs a Change Advisory Board (CAB) so that ITIL is implemented with commitment and efficiency. CAB approves and controls the required changes within the acceptable level of risk.

SLA

One of the important components of service delivery is the service level agreement. A SLA is fundamental to service provision, from the perspective of both the supplier and the recipient. It documents and defines the parameters of the relationship itself. The quality of the SLA is therefore a critical matter.

SLA is a legal document which ensures that the proper elements, understanding, commitments and deliverables are in place to provide consistent service support and delivery as per SLR. SLR indicates the expected customer specifications, requirements and characteristics of the service delivery. The intent of SLA is to specify the detailed levels of services to avoid future differences on deliverables. Typical SLA sections include: Introduction, Scope of Work, Performance, Tracking and Reporting, Problem Management, Compensation, Customer Duties and Responsibilities, Warranties and Remedies, Security, Intellectual Property Rights and Confidential Information, Legal Compliance and Resolution of Disputes, Termination and Signatures.

ITSM warrants that SLAs are drafted, negotiated and contracted as per the underpinning contracts and management’s expectation of available IT resources and mapping resources to customer services. SLM ensures that management can deliver the required level of service before any agreement is signed. This is done in discussion with the internal IT departments and the external IT suppliers.

The primary task of SLM is to ensure continuous identification, monitoring and reviewing of the optimally agreed levels of IT service as required by the business, in close co-operation between IT services providers and customers. The goal of SLM is to maintain and improve IT Service quality, through a constant cycle of agreeing, monitoring and reporting upon IT Service achievements and instigation of actions to eradicate poor service in line with business or cost justification. During the course of business, SLM ensures building adequate capacity for meeting SLRs.

ITIL v3

Recently, OGC has introduced new version of ITIL called as ITIL v3. ITIL v3 is a part of a process to enhance and improve the ITIL best practices. This is the essence of “Current best practice” – defining the frontiers and industry practices, which continuously shift as organisations compete to meet the evolving demands of customers. ITIL v3 is written with a broader context and scope of thinking for best practices. The input for the books, reviews and changes comes from a collective global community of IT Service Management professionals and stakeholders during a three-year period. The new approach is termed the ‘lifecycle’ approach, much the same as an IT service in reality.

Significant portion of ITIL v2 (earlier version of ITIL) content has been refined and included in ITIL v3. Besides the overall new architecture of ITIL ITSM Practices, there are new topics covered in ITIL v3, that haven’t been a part of ITIL in past like strategic aspects, service design aspects, supplier management, outsourcing, service knowledge management system, application design and management, technology architecture design and management, service measurement, event management, request fulfilment, access management.

ITIL Books

ITIL v3 comprises five distinct volumes: ITIL Service Strategy; ITIL Service Design; ITIL Service Transition; ITIL Service Operation; and ITIL Continual Service Improvement. The contents of two most commonly used sets within the previous release, Service Delivery and Service Support, are broadly still present. These were as follows: Incident Management; Problem Management; Configuration Management; Change Management; Release Management; Service Desk; Service Level Management; IT Financial Management; Capacity Management; Availability Management; IT Service Continuity Management; IT Security Management.

A sound service strategy is essential in the creation of high quality IT services. It provides a base upon which to build a successful service management function and ensures that best value is delivered to business customers. Service Strategy is a major strength of the new ITIL library. It introduces the service lifecycle and encourages the development of a business perspective. Whether you are a service provider or a business customer, this book guides you through the choices that you need to make to achieve service excellence. It helps focus upon understanding, and upon translating business strategy into IT strategy, as well as selection of the best practices for the particular industry in question. It encompasses a framework to build best practice in developing a long term service strategy. It covers many topics including: general strategy, competition and market space, service provider types, service management as a strategic asset, organization design and development, key process activities, financial management, service portfolio management, demand management, and key roles and responsibilities of staff engaging in service strategy.

Well-designed services play a vital role in realizing a sound service strategy. Effective design contributes towards the delivery of quality services that meet or exceed customer expectations. Service Design shows how to create valuable IT service assets for your organisation, but within business constraints, such as time and money. It provides a framework for service design that considers customer requirements, both now and in the future, while keeping the business view firmly in sight. Service Design provides guidance on the creation and maintenance of IT policies and architectures for the design of IT service solutions. The design of IT services conforming to best practice, and including design of architecture, processes, policies, documentation, and allowing for future business requirements. This also encompasses topics such as Service Design Package, service service level management, designing for capacity management, IT service continuity, Information Security, supplier management, and key roles and responsibilities for staff engaging in service design. This also embraces outsourcing, insourcing and co-sourcing.

Successfully bringing a well-designed service into the live environment takes efficient planning. It is necessary to deliver new or changed services with the appropriate balance of speed, cost and safety while ensuring minimum disruption to operations. Service Transition provides and supports the ‘business as usual’ delivery of the organisation’s requirements from IT. Service Transition provides guidance on managing the many aspects of service changes, preventing undesired consequences while allowing for innovation. It is essential reading for anyone seeking to deliver IT change with the best possible benefit to the business. Service Transition volume covers the longer term change management and release practices. It provides guidance for the transition of IT services into the business environment. Fundamentally, it covers how to create a transition strategy from service design and transfer it to the production (business) environment.

Once services have been successfully delivered into the live environment they need to be managed effectively on a day-to-day basis. It is here, at the customer interface, that perceptions about your performance as a service provider are created, and your success will be judged. Service Operation introduces and explains delivery and control activities that support high quality service operation. Use of the guidance will help to ensure a balanced and flexible approach, setting you firmly on the road to achieving excellence as a service provider. Service Operation covers delivery and control processes with a view to ensuring service stability. Also the monitoring of problems and balance between service reliability and cost etc are considered. It embraces the familiar basics of how to manage services in the production environment, including day to day issues and fire fighting. Best practice for achieving the delivery of agreed levels of services both to end-users and the customers are provided herein. This book guides through balancing conflicting goals (e.g. reliability v. cost), event management, incident management, problem management, request fulfilment, asset management, service desk, technical and application management, as well as key roles and responsibilities for staff engaging in Service Operation.

Even with a successful service operation in place, there is still a need to consider improvements at every opportunity. This will help protect against losing your competitive edge and will ensure that the best possible outcomes are being achieved. Continual Service Improvement focuses on the process elements involved in identifying and introducing a cycle of service management improvements. It provides structure for your approach to assessing and measuring services and helps you to avoid short-terms fixes in favour of a continual improvement in quality that truly benefits your business customers. Continual Service Improvement covers the processes involved in improving service management within the business, in addition to the issues related to service closure or retirement. It basically describes how to improve a service after it is deployed. The goal of Continual Service Improvement is to align and realign IT Services to changing business needs by identifying and implementing improvements to the IT services that support the business processes.

CONCLUSION

ITIL defines the organisational structure and skill requirements of an information technology organisation and a set of standard operational management procedures and practices to allow the organisation to manage an IT operation and associated infrastructure. The operational procedures and practices are supplier independent and apply to all aspects within the IT Infrastructure.

ITIL is ultimately concerned with aligning IT with the business through the whole planning to support lifecycle – that means that the business is ultimately the driver, not IT. ITIL is a quality process that is based on continual improvement based on Business needs.

Implementing ITIL is not a quick fix nor will it be easy to implement. It takes a lot of thought, commitment and hard work to successfully change the way the IT organization does business. There needs to be upfront planning, training and awareness, ongoing scheduling, roles created, ownership assigned, and activities identified in order to be successful. Implementation and credentialing the ITIL in ITSM requires knowledge and training. ITIL is intended to be non-prescriptive, expecting that organizations will have to engage ITIL processes with their existing overall process model.

Throughout the country, computer technology dumbing down the academic experience, corrupting schools financial integrity, cheating the poor deceived people about the job skills youngsters need for the future and the promotion of the illusions of state and education policy. The mark of a fundamental problem in computer ethics is one in which computer technology is essentially involved and there is an uncertainty about what to do and also about understanding how theSituation. If only minor technological improvements are revolutionary, then undoubtedly ever-changing computer technology is revolutionary. Computers may not be completely user friendly, but at least they are much less unfriendly. Computer science researchers have for many years, the development of computerPrograms that are able to assist people in making complex decisions by modeling the behavior of human experts from various fields. Computers, sophisticated software, e-mail and Internet access are the new instruments of the economy and education in an evolving post-industrial society where information really is power. Keep pace with the digital age, federal authorities gave city schools just under 1 million USD this year, 450 new desktop computer to buy. Their goal is to ensure that at leastone computer for every 10 students in fourth through eighth grade. No one knows the exact amount of spending on computers in San Francisco, but according to national estimates, U. across the country, the computer is stupid to the academic experience, corrupting schools financial integrity, cheating the poor deceived people about the work skills for young people the future need and the promotion of the illusions of state and education policy.
You may remember the things that seemed impossible when you were a child: talking to somebody on the other side of the world, for free and anytime you like was probably one of them, along with a cure for AIDS, and being invisible. All of these boundaries have been broken, completely or at least in effect. Surely we will be flying, teleporting and living to our two-hundredth birthdays, within the next century! However, sometimes the simplest advances are the most amazing, not least because they are actually here, now. In this article we look at some amazing advancements in technology from 2008, specifically with regard to computer hardware, software, network performance management and information technology infrastructure.

Do you remember the science fiction movies where messages are projected onto walls, or even into the middles of rooms like in Star Wars? Well, the first steps to that technology have been unveiled by Microsoft at the CEO Summit in Washington recently. Microsoft has developed laser technology that can turn any surface into a touchscreen, and allow you to interact with a central computer, even on the internet. This information technology infrastructure means you could be having chat conversations on the kitchen bench while cooking, or reading emails in the shower, before long. We aim higher than even Bill Gates comment that we should “Think about the whiteboard in your office becoming intelligent”.

Not likely to be hailed as a genius breakthrough by consumers, but perhaps the savior of the music industry, is a new digital fingerprinting technology being developed primarily by LTU technologies. Long has law enforcement and information technology consultants thrown their hands up in helplessness at the problems of piracy of music and video content, saying there is juts no way to control it. However, digital fingerprinting could save the music and video industries millions of dollars every year. Key identifiers in a file are pattern matched against a central database – if a pattern is copyrighted, it can’t be uploaded. This information technology infrastructure also has the potential to do wonders for network performance management, as traffic levels drop.

Sometimes the most amazing advancements are also the ones that you didn’t realize weren’t yet possible. Ordinary people have heard of wireless technology, and immediately assumed they could be surfing the internet from their laptop while skydiving, travelling the countryside, or out in deep dark forests.

The reality is a lot more sober – however, there has recently been an amazing new development in wireless information technology infrastructure that allows delivery of audio and video content to passengers on the Singapore Flyer, the world’s tallest observation deck. It was previously impossible to get data reliably through such a tall, large and dense structure, which was also continuously moving. However, an IT consulting firm has developed solutions which allow just that. Laptops while skydiving are one step closer, at least!

New wireless sensor technology might also help track both computational loads on large mainframes, and the heat distribution of your house. Microsoft has developed very cheap wireless sensors that can be used to collect and transmit data, as well as controlling environments. For about $3 a sensor, in the future you could have an automatically, perfectly climate controlled home. No more chilly hallways and dank corners!

While we aren’t teleporting or outliving turtles yet, it seems that it certainly won’t be long.

Internet means connects the persons or computers to each other. In the broad meaning Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use
a set of protocols called TCP/IP. It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private and public, academic, business, and government networks of local to global scope that are linked by copper wires, fiber-optic cables, wireless connections, and other technologies. The Internet carries a vast array of information resources and services, most notably the inter-linked hypertext documents of the World Wide Web (WWW) and the infrastructure to support electronic mail, in addition to popular services such as online chat, file transfer and file sharing, online gaming, and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) person-to-person communication via voice and video.

In modern age, the Internet is a public, cooperative, and self-dependent service available to millions of people worldwide. Physically, the Internet uses a portion of the total resources of the currently existing public telecommunication networks. Technically, what distinguishes the Internet is its use of a set of protocols called TCP/IP (for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol).

Difference between Internet and World Wide Web
The terms Internet and World Wide Web are often used in everyday speech without much distinction. However, the Internet and the World Wide Web are not one and the same. The Internet is a global data communications system. It is a hardware and software infrastructure that provides connectivity between computers. In contrast, the Web is one of the services communicated via the Internet. It is a collection of interconnected documents and other resources, linked by hyperlinks and URLs. for more information see below

In about ten years, computer technology as we know it will stop advancing. Computer chips will not be able to get any smaller or any faster. That is when computer technology based on molecules will take over. From what I have seen in the last ten years, computers in 100 years will be whatever our imaginations can come up with. That could be good, but that could also be very bad. Given the capacity of the imagination, I am very concerned about what will happen because of technology.

The egotistic condition of being human is something that needs to be taken into account when debating for or against the advancement of technology. One trait people have that helps them survive is their self-centered outlook which extends to the outer limits of the universe. With the birth of Homo sapiens came intelligence and egotism great enough to threaten the equilibrium of the planet. People like to form nature around their lives, not the other way around. The human race is literally in a fight with nature.

One very strong instinct people have is to not die. In 100 years people will be having a debate on whether or not it is ethical to digitize our minds in order to live forever. I hope I am wrong, but I believe that if given enough time, we will be able to create some sort of an eternity. As we become more like computers and computers become more like us there will be a new species of life. We will have created life—computers with feelings and thoughts. In the future it will be easy to forget the implications of the advancements of technology because information will be more desirable than knowledge.

People will be able to have digital children that will never be in physical form and will never wear out or die. The children of the future will have “gods” for parents. The kids’ eternal life will depend on whether or not the parents grant it. This new world (or worlds) will inhabit people that are not conditioned by earth’s way of evolution where parents care for their kids because of a specie’s need to procreate in order to survive. The evolution of computers (or the people inside of them) will be shaped only by gaining comprehension of ways to “delete” others in order to survive forever.

Some serious contemplating needs to be done on this issue. One human flaw that may kill us in the end is the fact that we are too smart for our own good and yet too dumb to realize it. But, if we believe that our only flaw is in not advancing, then denial will be what ultimately kills us. If we are to survive we will need to understand that we do not understand and accept some things as they are.
