I hoped they’ll connect it to the ATA or SATA. That woud be something. This way it’s nothing but packaging – not very comfortable anyway.

You are really not providing much info to help you.
Model number?
It could be an 8 G player with the ability to accept extra flash, but only 128M or 256 M.
I am sure when you try to put songs you will figure out quite fast how much space you have..

You can use Flash media to add to your OS resources.
This can be done in Vista and XP.
There is a cap to the memory you can add in terms of the total listed OS balance.
XP and 32 bit Vista can only read and report 3 gigs of RAM to your system viewer. 64 bit OS's are much higher.
Recommendations on using Flash Media to "increase" the resource pool hinges on a few things:
If you already have less RAM then you need. Consider having about 512mb and running vista: I recommend adding more physical RAM rather then virtual.
The speed will be considerably slower. Digital/virtual RAM will not buffer or process it's contents as quick as physical.
ALSO: using Flash memory in your system WILL subsequently slow your USB hub down and limit the power remainder. So it is best to add Virtual ram in quality, NOT quantity. Add an 8 gig, not four 2 gigs.
Also remember all Windows Based OS's use the Page filing system. Regardless of how much Virtual RAM you have: you're only going to process as quick as the L2 cache on your processor.

All digital cameras now use FLASH memory.
It is memory that can be rewritten by applying power, but which retains information when power is removed.

Your question is quite sensible. But the last bit of question itself has the answer with it. Why don't we have flash hard drives? Simply because if we have flash storage that is no longer a harddrive. Harddrive is a term given to a magnetic storage device that can hold data permanently with higher robustness. The main reason for PCs and Laptops still coming with disk based storage is the capacity and reliability issue. Data stored in hardrive are more reliable than flash drives. The another reason is cost of storage. The storage capacity of 1 MB flash drive is much more higher than capacity of 1 MB harddrive.
The success rate of data recovery is much more higher than that of Flash drive.. This is the main reason hard drives are still considered while building computers.
However in case of above issues being addressed by new version of Flash drive, we can certainly see computers with Flash drive as main storage. Unless something better is not developed by then.
Hope that helps !!

@pirakaavak124 are you serious, you are on a computer while typing this, and out of all the possible ways you could find this information, you ask the question in a youtube video’s comment section, try Google. Or any electronics store, even a walmart.

If this project idea came to my mind, the problem of having to consolidate multiple volumes into one would definitely have been raised, and would have immediately distinguished any will for me to sacrifice time actually building it anyway. That’s why I watched this video, and was disappointed to see no solution. Demonstrating how to do that very thing would have saved this video a lot of criticism, and made it far more practical/worthwhile…
