Internet Technologies – Biggest Advancements In The Recent Days

Internet Technologies - Biggest Advancements In The Recent Days

With advancement in technology, especially with internet technologies there are lots of changes happening in the recent years. Have you ever thought of working on your laptop with wireless network at your comfort anytime? I am sure this was only a dream couple of decades back. However, in the recent years we have wireless internet access also known as WLAN or Wi-Fi. This is the advancement in internet technologies.

Earlier an inbuilt modem was mandatory if you want to access internet. Moreover, internet was connected via cable and hence you cannot access internet wherever you want. In the recent days, internet technologies have improved a lot thus making internet accessible anywhere. Internet can be connected from the cable modem via wireless router. The wireless router encourages the signal from various wireless spots. There are wireless access points which boots signal into an area.

Wireless internet technologies are based on two types of technologies. The first type of technology is known as spread spectrum or OFDM or orthogonal frequency division multiplexing. The logic behind the wireless internet technologies is spreading wireless signals through radio waves. This technology allows multiple users to access internet using grouping of signals.

Computers or laptops convert or intercept wireless signals through wireless network interface card known as NIC. NIC is a standard internal component used in many laptops. NIC comes with a small antenna which is used to receive and send signals over the LAN. This is the opposite of Ethernet port. Ethernet port connects to the computer directly.

Satellite internet service is the highlight of the internet technologies available today. Satellite internet service is very useful to those who stay in remote areas and those areas not covered by technologies. Wireless internet solutions are faster than all other internet solutions. A small dish is required for the satellite internet service. The dish is kept on a roof. The modem is placed between the PC and the dish. Signals are passed between satellite and dish.

Web based email access is another advanced internet technologies. The major advantage of web based email access is you can access internet from any where and every where. You can use various internet browsers like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. So, if you just have web connection, you can access internet from any place on earth even when you on holidays, or when you are in your friend’s house etc.

Though we talk about wireless internet technologies, there are definitely some challenges. The major issue that concerns internet technologies of the current years is that signals gets blocked very easily when there is a lot of distance and some times due to natural issues. Though there are any access points and new technologies used to overcome the signal issues, it is not completely out of issues. This is of course a fact and we cannot deny that.

With the advancement of internet technologies, can be believe that you can also host websites in affordable prices? You can of course host your own website for the first year with just one hundred dollars. This is definitely a discounted rate and you get about one thousand mega bytes or MB of storage capacity. The band width is about twenty GB and you get to choose your domain name. These are definitely major advantageous of internet technologies.

Most, if not all laptops that you will buy these days have Wi-Fi capabilities built in them.

Ipod Touch's have Wi-Fi capabilites built in them.

These devices will connect to wireless networks that you can find in homes, at coffee shops, airports, hotels, malls, and the list will keep growing and growing.

Not all of these places have free Wi-Fi, a great example is Starbuck's and McDonalds both have 'Wi-Fi' stickers on their front doors but when you try connecting they will ask you for a credit card or other way to pay.

Other places do offer free Wi-Fi such as libraries, locally owned coffee shops and other stores and Dairy Queens(around me).

    So to answer your questions:
Is there always a fee to have to pay for this service?
    No, not always.

How about if you only use it in places that advertise free Wi-Fi?
If they say it's free then it should be.

And if there is a fee about how much is it?
The price will vary from place to place. Maybe 4.99 an hour, Maybe 10.99 for unlimited access for a month.

    Good Luck,
    -Rick

I think you already have a topic i.e.

"The Role & Value of Internet Technology in Modern Marketing – A Review of Perspectives & Prospects for the Future"

You can research the variety of opinions "for" and "against" the role and value of internet technology in marketing and build your dissertation around these perspectives or 'themes', in what I call a "thematic dissertation".

    Good luck.
