Pin to Pin messages count like instant messages and texts, they are $.15cents per incoming/out messages. Yes you need a data plan to connect …then the messaging plan..yes they are definilty counted as sms.

Well, let me be the first to tell you that, yes it's all that. Easy to navigate? It has a pretty slick trackball that does that. As for battery life, I've only ran it down completely once, and that was because I was too lazy to charge it. The camera isn't too shabby, I mean it's no Nikon, or Canon PowerShot, but hey do you want a phone or a digital camera? The speakerphone works pretty good, I rather use my bluetooth headset though. If I did have to give it a knock, it would be the media player. It is kinda cheesy, but as long as I can listen to mp3s, watch full-length movies and even YouTube clips (after you convert them with software you buy from http://www.handango.com) I'm not complaining. As for games, it came with one but you can go to handango and buy some more. I treat this phone like a swiss army knife. It does a little bit of everything. I use it to pay my bills online, chat with family, wake me up, and get this a flashlight! (Yes, you can get it for .99 cents at handango) I will say that if you use the internet, I'd suggest downloading the opera mini browser on the http://www.opera.com website. All-in-all, the pro's far out weigh the cons, and I think that eventually the bugs will completely get worked out!

there's no point in a blackberry (I'll shorten it to BB for the rest of this answer) without data. You can do it – I mean, you can get any service your device and SIM card support – but its useless.

Having said that, there are two options I would suggest:
    1) If you go with a BB, then try the data. The popularity of the BB comes from the data. You can even get Yahoo email sent directly to the device. That's pretty cool, especially if you use the filters and don't get slammed with spam.

    2) If you don't like the phones you see, my first thought is perhaps you're limiting yourself to a carrier. Don't. Look around, there's other devices with other service providers (like Verizon, Cingular (ATT), Sprint, etc). I dropped the link to CNet's review page for Cell phones. Check it out.

    Good Luck!

The Blackberry, like every cell type of device polls. But it does not mean what you describe. The polling that takes place is a "keep-alive" type of data packet. The purpose is to let the network know where the phone is located physically on the network at any given time. As a user moves from place to place the cell towers keep a record of those movements so that when you want to make a call or send data of any type you will already be connected and ready go. This is how you get an "always on" connection.

The polling intervals vary by providers but they are generally constant IE every so many seconds or nanoseconds.

If the network receives a piece of data destine for your device, the network sends the data immediately after it arrives. The network does not wait for any length of time beyond the time it takes to forward the message. There can be delays caused by no or poor signal in which case the information is stored until the connection is restored and is then downloaded.

Firstly, the answer has nothing to do with the question that was asked. Secondly, you can have the data plan off the phone on a CDMA network as long as the provisioning features are on the account. You won't see EX, you would only see 1x instead of the usual 1XEV on a CDMA networks like Verizon. I should know coz I am a Tech Solutions Expert.

But more importantly, to answer the real question. Whats the difference between the internet on a cell and a BB device. HUGE Difference. Cell phone provider's give limited access to browser capabilities since most of the cell phone data plans are really cheap and are unlimited.

On a cell phone you can mainly browse to the links that the cell phone provider puts on their WAP Portal. Yes they would include the most basic functions such as checking your mail (hotmail, yahoo, gmail) and of course Facebook.

But 90% of the times when you try to browse to a normal site it wouldn't work. if it does awesome! If it doesn't then the provider doesn't support it.

On the other hand Blackberry's internet is a real internet on your phone. It is only limited by the website's inability to work properly on a data devices. However, 90% of the wesbites would work flawlessly.

I hope that kinda helped you out.

    Cheers

It's generally the same phone inside.
However, the main differing feature for me are the different keyboards.

The Curve has a full QWERTY keyboard, which is just like the keyboard you have on your computer. However the Pearl has a half-QWERTY keyboard, with two letters on each button. This can make typing really difficult until you get used to it.

Many people have to get new phones within their first week because they can't stand the Pearl's keyboard. I would wait until you can get the Curve, you will be more satisfied.

    Thanks,

    Magic T.
